FEAR
What do you fear?
The older I get fear has become a bigger part of life. Why don’t people talk about this? Why didn’t anyone warn me that when you become a parent all of a sudden you worry and fear for your kids. It’s like a light switch was flipped on…. one that I never asked for.
The things I fear:
Health
All those ‘smart’ choices I made in my 20s and early 30s are popping up in my mind as a form of fear. Hope I didn’t do too damage when I…(fill in the blank).
Parents health
You still see your folks the same and forget that they’re seniors now and getting older. You worry how life is/will change for them and how it will impact you.
Safety
The world is changing… for the good I believe most of the time. But it seems all it takes is one article on an injustice whether it is crime, a food or a product that’s been recalled due to safety etc. and I feel fear.
Society
Living in a time where horrible unimaginable behaviour has gone unchecked for decades and is finally coming to light for reform. It is empowering and incredibly heartbreaking. I tell myself to stay strong for those who have suffered, be the voice, set the example, learn. We must weather the storm and push for better for the beautiful souls who have suffered and end this kind of senses horror in their honour and for our future generations (police brutality, sexual assault).
My Kids
I fear how will they fair in this world that feels like it’s our to get them? And I know others face many more challenges than we do.
Pandemic
Enough said - right? For those who think this is some kind of conspiracy are either filled with so much fear this is how they cope and have not experienced it…so trying to give kindness even when it’s not given to us, I say in a way you are kinda lucky (ignorance is bliss) but please the world begs you where a mask.
How do you cope? What do you fear?
Sending love.
